didn't do the 5k, but...

Well I didn't make it to the race Saturday. We stayed up late painting our bedroom, which we needed to finish. Instead of running the race, I let my hubby sleep in and went to the 90 min YMCA cardio/strength class. The class was more exercise than a 5k anyway.

Sunday I had a great training run with some wonderful women. We ran 7.13 miles, with time 1:15 (all that thanks to the GPS runners watch my hubby got me last year). I did walk a few times toward the end of the run, but I am building up my endurance. I've decided to register for a half marathon. It's on flat groomed trail mostly and will be Sept 4th. My baby will be a little over 3 months at that point. I am confident that I'll be ready.

As for the weight loss... it's happening slowly. I still weigh a pound more than my hubby. ugh. It is coming off at about 1.5 to 2.0 pounds a week, which is what's recommended. I don't want it to come off any faster than that, since it might affect breast feeding. It still feels too slow though.

I'm still at it!

Well I haven't found time to write, however I have been exercising! My sister came to visit, which was so nice. She was here for ten days, so that explains my absence. I haven't even looked at the computer in the ten days she was here!

Today my little boy is eight weeks old. He is getting bigger and chubbier by the day, and I'm prouder every moment I look at him! It is great having a little boy with rolls! My rolls are starting to disappear. YAY!!! Tomorrow is my weigh in/ measure day, so I'll have the real progress numbers. I set a day a week to weigh myself so I wouldn't be too worried throughout the week. I've found my weight fluctuates throughout the week.

With my sister here, I always had a work out partner. I even got to run twice with my honey! It was wonderful! He runs a lot faster than I do, but always stays next to me when we run together. We got a couple long runs in and lots of good conversation. I really enjoyed.

I turn 30 next Friday, so I am considering doing a 5k this coming weekend. It will be my last race in the 25-29 age group. I've found that age group to be less competitive, so when I look at the results I feel extra good about myself. I think it might be a good ego boost to run it, but it all depends on my sleep... We've had some bad nights recently with the little guy. If I'm feeling really sleep deprived, I won't run the race. We'll keep our fingers crossed for good sleep!

Making progress

It has been another great week. I worked out every day of the week. I am so glad to be back into running. I am going to do a few longer runs this next week and then start running with some of my old running partners. I can't wait to get up on the incline again and run some of the trails on the mountain. Hopefully I will be up for that in about a week and a half!

I am finally fitting into some of my old clothes. Well I should say I can fit into almost all of them, however I'm not real comfortable. There are some of my baggier clothes that are very comfortable, but the clothes that fit nicely prepregnancy are still pretty tight around the bottom. My waist is down to 27.5 inches now. I just have a few little ways to go and it will be back to normal. I'm surprised at how quickly the skin is shrinking. All I can say is keep shrinking! I don't want any extras! I didn't get any stretch marks with either pregnancy, but I am starting to get some little purple veins. I need to do some research... I've been told it is from loosing the weight too quickly. If anyone has feedback for me on that one, I'd love to hear it. I hope they don't stay. I want my skin to look like it was... If it doesn't go away though, I'm happy I have two great kids :-) and will say it was worth a few purple veins.

Well that's how it's going. I plan on doing a long run tomorrow. By long run, I mean 6 or 7 miles right now... I know that's not long for most of you, but right now it is for me! Wish me luck. My goal is to run it all, even the big hills, and average a 10 min mile.

I started running again

I am running again and it feels soooo good! A few weeks after having the baby, I started running, but developed some heel pain. Well Miles is six weeks old tomorrow and I have no pain.

I was supposed to do a spinning class this morning, but we had a rough night and slept in instead. Since I haven't had any pains the last 3 or 4 days, I decided to run a couple miles. It felt great, so I kept going until I ran a little under 4.5 miles. I held a steady 10 min mile pace and was totally relaxed. We have a treadmill in the family room, so it will be nice to run while the kids are napping in the afternoons. I'm looking forward to having a little break in my day instead of doing chores at nap time. Running has always allowed me to clear my head, so I should be a happier mommy in the afternoons :-)

I'll keep you all posted about aches, pains, and bladder leaks - hopefully we don't get any of those! I'll have to share my bladder leaking story when I have more time :-)
