more pain!

There are just too many reminders I have a 3 month old! First there is the obvious one, sleep. We are getting better with that, however we do have our good nights and our bad. I'm finally getting smart enough to take naps when the kids do. I always thought I needed to get other stuff done, but I've since figured out I need sleep! My brain doesn't function like a normal person on the sleep I've been getting.

Next, there is the breast feeding. It went great with Ella and has been going smoothly with Miles up until now. Last night, I started feeling this horrible pain on my right side. I thought the little guy just wasn't latching on correctly and it would go away, but that doesn't seem to be the case. With each feeding, the pain is getting worse. I consulted my brother in law, who doesn't think it has developed into a full fledge infection yet. I need to monitor the milk to see if any blood or puss shows up, yuck! In the mean time, I am using heat compresses and taking an anti-inflammatory. I really hope I don't get an infection, because the pain I am feeling now is horrible and I can only imagine what it will be like if I do get an infection.

And to top it all off, I hurt my left knee in a class the other day. It isn't so bad I can't walk on it, although it is pretty painful. At times, it is more painful than my breast. And of course, I ran today, which didn't help it. I wanted to get one more longer run in before my race next Monday. We did a pretty short run though, just 5.7 miles, and I hurt the whole way. The knee, the breast, the knee, the breast... it was a continuous rotation of pain. I really should have taken a tylenol before the run, but I didn't... too little sleep, makes for a fuzzy brain. If only I was thinking clearly these days!

I am getting into great shape though! I figure by six months post partum, I will be in excellent shape. My muscle tone is coming back and I am feeling much stronger than a few weeks ago. I have been lifting weights 2-3 times a week, which seems to be helping. I haven't been doing yoga as regularly as I would like though, and that needs to change. I do everything else much better when I have a relaxed and flexible body. I've been way too stiff recently, which of course is because I haven't been doing much yoga. I'm going to get my honey to do yoga with me tonight. It always helps when I volunteer someone else to do it with me, especially when its that special guy :-)

As for the weight loss, it is coming along. Not as quickly as I would like it to, however the inches are dropping. Two weeks ago, I lost .5 pounds and this last week it was 1.4 pounds. I haven't been paying too much attention to what I've been eating though, so that's what is going on. I am still happy with my progress. I should be back to my pre pregnancy weight at or around 4 months post partum and that makes me happy. I can fit into all my size 6's right now, however the majority of them are a little too tight for my liking. I enjoy my clothes having a little looser fit.

as ready as ever!

Well I did my last long run before the 1/2 marathon yesterday. I feel like I am ready as I will ever be. This week I'll do my normal workouts and maybe try to get an extra run in. I am barely doing 20 miles a week and that is with the 11 mile long runs on Sunday, yikes. Oh well, I know I'll be out there doing the 1/2 marathon and that's all that matters for me at this point.

My friends that did the Ascent this year all did great. I can't wait until next year to do it! Last year, I finished in 4:12, but next year I will be in the first wave... If I keep running and do more training next summer, I should be able to cut off 30 minutes. That will be my goal. It's fun making long term goals like this, it keeps me motivated, especially during the winter. I will be doing the incline on Sept 10th for the first time in over a year, so that will help me gauge where I am physically. I used to be able to do it in a little over 30 minutes. We'll see how my first time out goes :-)

Anyway, all is going well. I am please with my progress. The clothes are starting to fit better and better, so that means I'm shrinking. Yippee!

the "H" reminded me...

The "H" reminded me that I just had a baby a little over two months ago. Some of you may think I am talking about the husband, but I am actually talking about a different "H"
All my runner friends are familiar with what happens with running... Things get pushed down and you stay very regular. Well Sunday I did an eleven mile run and as was expected, I needed to use the potty afterward. Unfortunately, using the potty blew out my hemorrhoid. OUCH! I haven't had any problems since having the baby, but it is still there. I guess my body just had to remind me. My body felt great after my run, with the exception of my bottom. Not sure how I can prevent it from happening again, but it won't stop me from running.

I haven't posted recently, because things have been going on as expected. I have around 10 pounds to loose, less if I want to be at 135. I'm between a size 6 and 8 right now. My real goal is to get into my old clothes (size 4 & 6), regardless of my weight. I want to feel comfortable in my old clothes like I used to, before I was pregnant. It won't take too much longer.

I also registered for the half marathon on Labor Day. I set my expected time at 2:05, but my real goal is to run the entire race and feel good about myself. My baby will be a little over 3 months old at that point, so I think any time expectation is irrelevant. It's just great I'm getting out there so early after having the baby.
